About Me

My photo
My name is Lucinda. I have been an Army wife for 7 years and we are now going to be transitioning to civilian life. I had a forum for military wives but now I decided my time would be better spent blogging to all my fellow wives and how things are going with the transition.

About my wifey status

Okay so I have been married to my soldier for 7 wonderful years now. We have been through a lot together in the Army. Here is some background on what we have had to go through in his military career. We have been through 2 deployments to Iraq, about 30+ TDY's trips with the Honor Guard, 2 TDY's to The National Training Center(NTC), and now he is a Drill Sergeant(on the trail).

The Army always comes first no matter what anyone tells you, you have to learn to deal with that. My husband left to Iraq when I was 2 months pregnant with my daughter in 2006 and came home on Rest and Relaxation(R&R) about 4 hours before she was born, so he made it to the hospital just in time. He was home with us for 17 days and then had to go back to Iraq to finish his 15 month tour. He was then gone until she was 9 months old. With my son we were at Fort Knox where he was a Drill Sergeant, they were able to find him and he was with me every step of the way.

I have learned a lot from being a military wife. I have learned that you can not take anything for granted. You should not take the time you have with your spouse for granted as you never know when they will be called away. It takes a certain type or woman to be a military wife.

"The Army Wife Prayer"

Dear Lord,
Give me the greatness of heart to see the difference between duty and his love for me. Give me understanding that I may know, when duty calls him he must go. Give me a task to do each day, to fill the time when he's away. And Lord, when he's in a foreign land, keep him safe in your loving hand. And Lord, when duty is in the field, please protect him and be his shield. And Lord, when deployment is so long, please stay with me and keep me strong. Amen."
